I'm eagerly awaiting the results of the polling taking place in the US today, not least because it could mean that the first woman or black person is one step closer to becoming Commander in Chief, but also because of my love of the West Wing. Of course, I'm basing all of my understanding of what is going on from that source, so I do hope it's accurate! It's also not like the election system here which, quite frankly is, well, dull. Having spent many an election night at various counts, there just isn't the build up, nor the tension or the high profile celebrities.
Today is also pancake day, and that in some respects makes it super! I've prepared the batter and we're waiting till our dinner's have settled before we embark on a million pancakes. I'm an advocate of the sugar and lemon variety, I believe this is the one true topping for this occasion and I will not be swayed. All others seem a little cloying and lack the sharpness the lemon brings. It is of course jif lemon too! I doubt though that I will be giving up anything for lent (maybe blogging?) due to not being religious, or able to give anything up! For the food nazis out there, I don't care that plain flour is bad for you - pancakes are delicious!

Not only is plain flour bad for you, Shrove Tuesday is a religious holiday...I think.
If Obama wins the nomination, he will likely get shot before the general election. Too many people will not accept a black person as president.
We had pancakes but a day late on Ash Wednesday.Treacle and honey were our toppings as we are running the food down before our departure to Portugal and were completely out of lemons. In the USA people walk around with a cross on their forehead from ash on Ash Wednesday, it was quite pertubing to say the least. Not sure why though. Blackpool sounded like fun, especially the penny falls. Would rather play them than have a go on the lottery, much more fun?
