I've just watched quiet an interesting BBC programme about Supermarket claims and in particular I watched with a keen eye the part that featured organic foods.
I've provided a link for those who wish to watch the relevant part...

Basically, it said that pesticides were not the risk organic producers claim, and that very little actually make it into the food. But, watch and make up your own minds.
In other news, I am eating Peppermint patties and His Lordship managed to drop TWO in the sink, WHAT A WASTE! He's eating Hersey's Kisses, but they taste like vomit so I don't partake. Could someone clear up for me why this is? I'd have thought the American palate would be quick to notice something like that.

the Professor who did the programme also did one on the cosmetic industry, she talks a lot of sense especially about probiotics and alleged superfoods. Delia Smith doesn't do 'Organics'not sure why. I still feel better with organic meat, fish and poultry, when I can get it.
Forgot the peppermint patties, they are ok but don't come anywhere near Thorntons double cream mints with the crunchy bits on the top, oh dear why am I talking about food before I go to bed?
There was a study on vitamins that said they were worthless and didn't get into the body properly. Who paid for the study? Pharmaceutical companies (who are against vitamins).
Another study on eggs said that they are a wonder food and not a cholesterol risk after all. Study done by the Egg Farmers Association.
Another study showed that Milk is good for you. Study by the Dairy Association.
In other words look not just who did the study but who funded it and the majority of the time, you will find there is an ulterior motive behind the study that can skew the results.
Why do Americans have crap chocolate? Don't know.
We have crap waxy chocolate because our food industry has tremendous control of our government (alongside others such as the oil, auto & pill-pushing industries, to name only a few) and puts whatever crap they want in their products and our high-fructose loving Americans are too stupid to ask any questions or challenge what the government says is good for us...maybe?
dropping peppermint patties in the sink!! when we have traversed the globe with overweight suitcases!
As for the studies on food Mike is right, it does depend on who is financing the research, Maybe the Organic label makes you feel better about what you are eating. The programme said that there was no evidence that there were more nutrients in organic. I thought the object was not more nutrients but less pesticides etc.
Yes I agree. All american chocolate is crap!!
